Perineal Suturing Workshop

March 21, 2024

Perineal trauma is any damage or tear to the female genitalia during childbirth that occurs spontaneously or intentionally by surgical incision (episiotomy). Perineal trauma resulting from vaginal birth is the most common form of obstetric injury experienced by women. Every year, millions of women around the world sustain perineal trauma during childbirth which can result in long-term maternal morbidity. Women in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) are thought to be at a higher risk of perineal trauma.

To commemorate Women’s History Month, the Ghanaian-Diaspora Nursing Alliance(G-DNA), in collaboration with Peri Health Ltd and Nursing and Midwifery Council, (N&MC) Ghana, is offering a perineal suturing workshop that usually cost 200 Euros for only 100 GHC to 20 midwives/ midwifery tutors to reduce maternal morbidity among childbearing women in Ghana. This workshop will be delivered by Adelaide Aduboffour, a Ghanaian-born Perineal Specialist Midwife. Adelaide and her training team have trained over 10,000 delegates over the 8 years. Please support this important professional development opportunity for Ghanaian midwives.
