The nurse plays a critical role in the prevention of infections. Infection prevention and control are practices that prevent patients and healthcare providers from being harmed by avoidable infections. This presentation provides the learner with a core set of infection prevention and control techniques.

Speaker: Dr. Cynthia Winfield

Dr. Cynthia Winfield’s nursing career began in 1992 with practice in acute care setting.  Her nursing experience includes medical surgical, neurological, orthopedic and perioperative nursing.  Her nursing education career began in 2005 with a job as an adjunct clinical instructor at Goldfarb School of Nursing. Throughout her career, she has taught a variety of subjects. She currently works as a nursing professor at Southwestern Illinois College.  She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Mount Saint Mary College in New York in 1992.  Her Master of Science from Southern Illinois University in 2005 and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2018 from McKendree University in Illinois.
