In this lecture the learner will learn ways to effectively & compassionately communicate with the pregnant, laboring, and post-partum woman.

Speaker: Dr Nalo M Hamilton PhD, MSN, APRN-BC

Dr. Nalo Hamilton is an Associate Professor at the UCLA School of Nursing and a member of the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. She earned a PhD in Biochemistry at Meharry Medical College and later earned an MSN degree at Vanderbilt University, with a specialty in Women’s Health and Adult Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP/ANP). Her unique background in biochemistry and molecular biology coupled with her clinical expertise as a nurse practitioner enables Dr. Hamilton to investigate questions related to women’s health and health disparities in breast cancer, particularly among breast cancer patients under 45 years and African American women.

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate at the level of the patient.
  • Understand and demonstrate active listening
