Samuel K. Berko is a skilled Registered Nurse Practitioner working
at the Polyclinic, Tamale Teaching Hospital, Ghana. Has over 17 years of
experience as both a Registered General Nurse and a Registered Nurse
Practitioner, and has built a strong career focused on patient care, clinical
excellence, education, and leadership in nursing.
He is a member of the Curriculum and Test
Construction Team for Nurse Practitioners at the Nurses and Midwifery Council
(NMC) of Ghana from 2024 to present. He also served as the Chief Examiner for
Nurse Practitioner exams and assessments, including OSCEs and research
projects, in 2023 and 2024.
In academia and mentorship, Samuel K. Berko is a
Preceptor for Nurse Practitioners at the University for Development Studies. He
also contributes to the Family Medicine and Polyclinic-TTH training team, where
he helps train medical students, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and
general nurses.
Outside his clinical and academic work, Samuel is a
dedicated leader in professional nursing associations. He is currently the
National Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Nurse Practitioners Society of
Ghana (NPSoG) from 2023 to present, and also serves as Secretary for the
Northern Zone of the Ghanaian-Diaspora Nursing Alliance (G-DNA).
Clinically, he is highly skilled in performing upper
and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures, which include observation and
therapeutic interventions, and shows both technical expertise and a commitment
to improving patient-centered care.
